Today I am reviewing the Benefit Rockateur Blush. This has got to be one of the first blush reviews I’m featuring on my blog. I think it’s time to take a little break from reviewing lip products so I’m bringing this one to you. This particular blush was gifted to me by my employer, Sephora. All of my thoughts and opinions are still my own and is NOT influenced by anyone but myself. See my review policy here for more details. Anywho, let’s get on with the review, photos and swatches shall we?!
WHAT IS IT? The Benefit Rockateur Blush is said to be a provocative rose gold cheek powder. This blush gives a famously provocative flush that turns heads on stage and off. The angled brush gives rich, show-stopping payoff every time. (source)
PRICE: $28.00 USD for 0.17oz/4.8g
AVAILABILITY: Available at Sephora, Ulta and retailers that carry Benefit Cosmetics.
PIGMENTATION: Before I go on about the pigmentation of this blush, I want to mention that I own several blushes from Benefit. With that said, I already expected this blush to be like the rest of the ones I own. This Benefit Rockateur Blush is pigmented just like the other blushes but doesn’t show up well on my skin tone. It’s just a nice flush of color on my cheeks when I wear it. Although it looks absolutely gorgeous on, this blush does show up better on lighter skin tones from my experience with them as a makeup artist.
You’ll see in the upcoming photos that the overspray of the rose gold isn’t consistent throughout the blush. The layer will disappear after a few uses…
TEXTURE: The texture of this blush is normal and is similar to the other Benefit blushes I own. There is also a texturized surface and design on the actual blush which makes this one very unique. If you’re wondering how the blush brush feels, I’m going to say it is as soft as it can be. Brushes that are similar are: the Becca The One Perfecting Brush, the MAC #168 Large Angled Contour Brush and the Sigma Beauty F40 Large Angled Contour Brush . The bristles are super soft and helps with blending the product beautifully on the cheeks.
APPLICATION: The application process is easy. You can wear this blush anyway you’d prefer and apply it with any blush brush. I’ve used the handy brush it comes with and two other blush brushes and they all work the same! I must mention that there is an iridescence to the blush and you can see it better in person than in my photos. I would also like to mention that this blush has a strong rose scent that I’ve noticed during the application process but the scent disappears within seconds. I can tolerate the scent only because it fades instantly but if it were to remain on my face, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. If you’re sensitive to fragrances or scents in your beauty products, I do recommend that you go to a retailer that carries Benefit and smell it for yourself before purchasing it.
PACKAGING: The packaging is so fancy and eye-catching just like all other Benefit blushes. If you’re familiar with Benefit blushes then you already know that all of their blushes are boxed and packaged the same way. Every single blush in the Benefit collection has its own character and sets the mood for any person who owns them. I have a huge fascination of the look of the boxes in my blush collection because they are perfect and you can tell the difference between each blush.
LASTING POWER: I personally don’t have a problem with blushes fading and not lasting on my cheeks so my initial thoughts about the lasting power of this stays neutral… If for some reason this particular blush did fade throughout the hours I’ve used them, I wouldn’t be afraid to mention it.
There you have it, my review on the Benefit Rockateur Blush. Have you tried this blush or any blushes from Benefit before? What are your thoughts on them? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below with links to your review if you have any…
