For those of you who are unfamiliar with Ipsy (formerly known as MyGlam), it is a subscription program/website co-founded by a YouTube beauty sensation, Michelle Phan. According to Ipsy, “Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag will deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.”
This month, the Ipsy team curated a “19 reasons 2014 will be AMAZING” bag filled with products that will enhance our 2014 experience. Keep reading or scrolling to see all of the products that I received in this month’s Ipsy bag…
Below are individual close-up’s and product information according to Ipsy’s product information card.
- First off, I’ve never heard nor seen this brand before I received this in my Ipsy bag so I didn’t know whether or not I should have been excited for it. The packaging looks amazing! When I opened the jar to take a peek at it, the product smelled absolutely amazing and the texture of the the hair mask had a light and fluffy texture. So far I’m pretty impressed and cannot wait to try this on my hair to see how well it’ll work.
- I have never tried products from this brand outside of Ipsy and I’m always opened to trying new things from Elizabeth Mott. I received a mascara in my September 2013 bag and it’s was actually pretty amazing when I tried it afterwards. For some weird reason, I thought this pencil was going to be a “chubby stick” type of pencil from the look of the box, but it’s a normal-sized deluxe eyeliner. I’m happy with the shade I got, I’m going to use it on my waterline to brighten my looks and make my eyes appear bigger. If you’re wondering, the pencil feels so soft and creamy. Can’t wait to try it out!!
- Before I try skincare products, I like to make sure it’s made for my skin type… The description for this face lotion states it’s for normal to dry skin and I’m oily/combination skin type! Boo. I hope that Ipsy will send me something that fits my skin type in the future because I’ll have to pass this along to a friend who will benefit from this…
- Whoa, I haven’t used potted lip balms for a while but I was pretty excited to give this a shot. I’ve received so many MicaBeauty products in previous Ipsy bags and all of the products I’ve gotten are pretty good. When I swatched this lip balm I was curious to see how it was going to perform on the lips and I regret to say that I don’t love this product. Instead of a balm, I would call this a lip stain because there is no moisturizing/hydrating benefits in my opinion just straight pigment and it is not at all tinted. It’s extremely pigmented. I’m quite disappointed!
- Eeek! When I saw this in my bag, I shook my head and immediately re-took the Ipsy quiz. I’m sure this product will work great for others but it isn’t for me at the moment. Major sad face!
My overall satisfaction of my January Ipsy Bag is a 2 out of 5 stars! I am excited about the Briogeo Hair Conditioning Mask and the Elizabeth Mott Eye Pencil. I found that the other 3 products that I received either didn’t work for me or isn’t suited for me. Quite disappointing bag! There are many bags I’ve seen that were amazing in the beauty world so hopefully the quiz I re-took will make next month’s bag better than this one!
